RONALD WONG

ASSOCIATE, EXECUTIVE COACH

Ronald is a seasoned executive who brings to his clients a high degree of insight and supportive challenge. His background in financial services has equipped him with a resilience and stamina to support senior executives facing unprecedented change.

Ronald’s coaching style is open and pragmatic with an ability to get to the core need being presented. Through an appropriate mix of support and challenge he can unlock the client’s unseen capability and empower them to find their own solutions.

Ronald was previously the Communications & Marketing Director at The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) responsible for the function across Asia Pacific. He has a broad range of experience spanning over 25 years in the finance sector in Sydney and Hong Kong.

In 2016, Ronald was part of the regional management team overseeing RBS’s investment banking exit from the Asia Pacific region.

Coaching and Facilitation Experience

Ronald has coached a range of clients across the corporate and non-profit sectors, working with them on leadership, developing resilience, communication styles and developing presence.  He is especially interested in the “social brain” and neuroscience, and how this changes attitudes, beliefs and behaviours across leadership, communication, personal resilience and financial decision making.

He has facilitated various strategy sessions where the objectives have included:

  • Articulating the business ambitions with clear revenue, cost and other financial targets
  • Reviewing the organisational structure and operating processes (including a communication plan) to support the new ambition

As part of RBS’s exit programme, Ronald worked with the Human Resources department and an external consultant to support a “Leaders Leading Change” programme. He was also an internal coach at the bank in their global development programme.

Ronald is an Executive Committee (Board) member and Honorary Treasurer of Heep Hong Society, a leading children’s charity in Hong Kong. He is now working with the Chairman and vice-chairs in:

  • Providing guidance and oversight on the progress of the charity’s strategic initiatives
  • Developing and delivering a leadership and development programme for the senior management team in 2017.

He is also a mentor at Hong Kong University.

Qualifications

Ronald is an Accredited Coach with the Institute of Executive Coaching & Leadership (IECL) and an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) of the International Coach Federation (ICF). His other coaching qualifications include certification in the Foundations of NeuroLeadership and Brain-based Coaching, both with the NeuroLeadership Institute, and a Diploma of Corporate Coaching with HKU SPACE. He is currently completing certification as a practitioner in Structural Dynamics with the Kantor Institute.

Ronald completed his MBA at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management and qualified as a chartered accountant in Australia early in his career.
